The Koala Aircraft is a Three Axis Microlight. Designed by Fisher
Flying Products in the U.S.A.

- The majority of the Koalas in South Africa were built under license to Fisher
Flying Products by Sport Aviation Products, originally at Empangeni in Kwazulu Natal then later at the Jack Taylor Airfield, Krugersdorp.
|
- This aircraft is a geodetic design, manufactured from wood and fabric (Ceconite).
|
- The Koala has many configurations i.e. Single Seater FP202 , Two Seater,
side by side, Super Koala Tail dragger, and the Two Seater Koala Gazelle Trike undercarriage (nose wheel)
|
- Most Koalas in South Africa, are fitted with The Rotax 503, 532, or 582 two cylinder two stroke engine.

- Other Engines known to
be fitted are the Rotax 912 , Volkswagen and BMW
|
- Cruising Speed +/- 65 Statute Miles per hour.
(Dependent on the engine fitted.)

- The aircraft has a VNE of 110 Statute Miles per hour .
|
- With a Standard Fuel tank of 35 Litres, gives a range of approx 80 Statute Miles with reserve.
Some Koalas have been fitted with Aux. Fuel tanks. Thus improving the
range considerably.
